Two Quotes on Awakening and Spiritual Journey

The Indian-American author, Deepak Chopra, reminds us to shed the layers of conditioning and societal expectations that are imposed on us and discover our true identity:

"Awakening is not changing who you are, but discarding who you are not."

Dr. David R. Hawkins, psychiatrist, physician, spiritual teacher, and author, asserts that there is no one-size-fits-all approach to spirituality:

The spiritual journey is individual, highly personal. It can’t be organized or regulated. It isn’t true that everyone should follow one path. Listen to your own truth.

(Re)-Defining Spirituality: Spirituality is a deeply personal and often peaceful exploration of one's beliefs, values, and connection to something greater than oneself. It is a journey of self-discovery, mindfulness, and inner peace. Spirituality is different from religion – it is more individualistic and open-ended. It doesn't necessarily require adherence to a specific doctrine or affiliation with an organised group.

Discovering oneself: Spirituality is a personal, inner journey that focuses on individual experiences, values, and a connection with the divine or the universe, often outside the confines of an institution. A way to personalise this is to develop personal rituals or routines that align with your beliefs and values. Practising this helps build a deeper and richer connection and awareness with yourself.

Accepting differences: True spirituality promotes love, tolerance, and understanding, fostering a sense of unity and respect for all individuals, regardless of their beliefs or backgrounds. Recognizing the validity of diverse spiritual paths supports values like compassion, love, and peace that often underpin various spiritual traditions.
